ADSGAF and SIFFS to hold consultation on safe boat design and boat building standards.

IEEE Artisanal Deep Sea Fishers, Association of Deep Sea Going Artisanal Fishermen and South Indian Federation of Fishermen jointly organize a Two Day Consultation on Safe Boat Design and Boat Building on FAO Standards. The consultation will be held on 29-30 July 2015 at KOODAL, Anna University Chennai Campus Chennai -6000025.

The purpose of the consultation is to bring out perfect boat designs and boat models to match the demand of Artisanal Deep Sea Fishers of Thoothoor region of Kanyakumari District. There are more than 600 boats of various sizes operating in the entire coast of India and also operating beyond the Indian limit. Many times their boats are fallen in to accidents and one of the reasons for the accident is poor boat design, dubious quality materials used for building boats, poor facilities in boat etc. In this backdrop we have proposed to have a consultation with the leading Naval Architects and Boat Builders, Progressive Deep Sea Fishermen Representatives, Representatives from Fishermen Organizations, Fisheries Technocrats, Experts, Engineers, Representatives from State fisheries Department etc.

See the linked file for more information: First Consultation on Safe Boat Design and Boat Building on FAO Standard
